On the weekend of the
January 11-12 the Horsham Amateur Radio Club setup potable station at Pyrenees
ranges (800mbs) near Avoca. The station used the distinctive VK3III call and was
active on 6meter 2meter
seventy cm and twenty tree cm. Club members were present for the full twenty
four ours of the field day. I would like to thank all club members that attended
and helped with the construction of the antennas and erecting of them on the
tower, also for there great effort operating the radio gear. It also gave the students from Marks (3kzz) class some
very good airtime, as I am certain they wood agree. The station (Pictured below)
consisted of twin 11element on 2mtr, twin 15 element on 70cm, 5 elements on 23cm
and 8 elements on 6mtr all mounted on a 6mtr tower on tandem trailer. The mobile
shack is 10-foot caravan able to have three radio stations active at once. Vk3iii worked 16 stations on 6mtr, 20 stations on 2mtr,
9 stations on 70cm, and 1 station on 23cm(much to the delight of David 3ylv)
even though the conditions where not the best.
